The first official trailer of Mike Newell's movie The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society- the screen version of the novel by Mary Ann Shaffer, and Annie Barrows was released.
The main role was played by Lily James - she plays a young writer and journalist who is looking for a story for her new book and suddenly discovers on the island of Guernsey a book club whose members could survive the Nazi invasion only because of their love of literature.
In the video, the main character receives a letter from one of the members of the same society, lights up the idea of writing about the club and going to the island. She gets acquainted with those who will become characters of her future book, learns their stories and secrets, falls in love and passes the initiation ceremony - tries the same pie from potato peelings, which, judging by the reaction, it is not to her liking.
The period drama stars Lily James as Juliet Ashton, a journalist who hopes to tell the story of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society — a book club whose love of fiction kept them going through the Nazi occupation of the channel islands. Upon visiting Guernsey, Juliet finds herself charmed by the locals, especially Dawsey Adams (Game of Thrones' Michiel Huisman), as she gains a deeper understanding of how the islanders survived the Nazi rule.
The film also starred Jessica Brown-Findlay, Matthew Goode, Michiel Haushman, Katherine Parkinson, Glen Powell, Penelope Wilton, Tom Courtney and others.
The world premiere of the mvie is scheduled for April 19, 2018.
