Ballet brooch

{module Ads Elite (xx)}

"Shrill transformation" - this is the main idea of the ballet collection by Latvian designer Anna Fanigina, that explores the transformation of objects and feelings in the flow of time. Brooch as a symbol of bright impression, which arouses the desire to take it to our hearts. Brooch as a moment of time, turned into a jewel.

A ballet inspired jewellery collection consisting of silver brooches with gold needles, accenting "sharpened" feature of this type of decoration.

The collection of used old photographs and copies of old ornaments, received its new incarnation. Precious stones are combined with old scratched glass, taken out of grandmother's brooches or found in the shallows of the island of Murano. Each of them has its own unique value - congenital or acquired. Silhouettes of people, vehicles, pigeons, old and new, expensive and cheap - all interwoven into one sparkling changeable flow.

Touching the theme of changes, the designer converts her style, creating pieces of art with numerous faceted stones. For the first time instead of the traditional geometric forms designer prefers free asymmetrical compositions.

Creating her jewelry under the brand name "VERBA", Anna Fanigina remained faithful to the verbal designations. On the back of each piece of brooches you can to the names of the collection "Omnia mutantur, nihil interit"...

Anna Fanigina about her jewelry: "Brooches accidentally came into my life. Up to a certain point, I had not been inclined to make them or wear. It took time to reflect on what a brooch means to me. It is a symbol of piercing experience. In the 2009 collection a variety of experiences were collected and were turned into a brooch. The new collection reflects the impression of the ballet.

The idea of transformation of antiques into modern accessories was developed in the second collection. I use the elements of vintage brooches. Brooches were casted from silver and gold and were made from molds of old jewelry, that is why they do not have all the stones on the spot - only a part ... These brooches remind me of Sakura that loses its petals, they emphasize the transience of life.

In both collections of brooches, I used photos. Picture - this is probably the most effective way to capture the impression. In one of the brooches, that bought a museum, I used an image that I cut from French postcards 20s. I bought this card in the Paris flea market. It depicts overseas tourists at the coastal line: each of them is in his own position, looking to his side, with his guiding star. I love the elements of water - it's a good analogy for the idea of transformation. It was a brooch, which started the collection "Everything changes, nothing disappears."

I crumble stones on a postcard or a photo and move them. I decide what to change and what to add. I use different materials: not only the precious and semi-precious stones - garnet, sapphire, topaz, zircon, aquamarine, amethyst, rock crystal, and glass. The value of the material does not depend on the zeros on the price tag. In my view, antique glass is not less valuable than, for example, sapphire, - the time to make it valuable. This brooch is a bit like a locket with pictures of ... historically made medallions. More often than not, with portraits of loved ones. I also created medallions: for example, with a portrait of my mother for herself.

And in the new ballet inspired collection of brooches modern dancers and working moments of rehearsals are depicted. With photographer Yuri Molotkovets I immediately discussed the task of shooting so that we did not care who dancers were, what they wore, what they danced. I wanted images to be abstract, fixing the movements and flight. Photographer understood my idea and made wonderful pictures".
