The American series about Empress Catherine II decided to close The series “The Great” with Elle Fanning in the role of Catherine II was closed after the third season. The streaming service Hulu has closed the comedy-drama series “The Great” about Empress Catherine II after the third season, Deadline reports.

The reason why the company decided to stop working on the project is unclear. Since its launch in 2020, the project has received positive reviews and seven Emmy nominations. A Hulu spokesperson declined to comment to Deadline. “Great” is a pseudo-historical project. The image of the Russian Empress was embodied by Elle Fanning (“A Rainy Day in New York,” “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”). Emperor Peter III was played by Nicholas Hoult (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Tolkien,” “The Favourite”).

As noted by Deadline, the season three finale did not have a significant cliffhanger (an intriguing outcome that hints at the continuation of the plot - approx.). Catherine II showed growth as the ruler of the state (and got a new hairstyle). Earlier it was reported about the closure of the scandalous series “Idol” with Johnny Depp’s daughter in the leading female role. Viewers saw only five episodes. Lily-Rose Depp plays a pop star who falls under the influence of the mysterious Hollywood club owner Tedros (singer Abel Tesfaye, known as The Weeknd).
