With celebrity clientele like Zoë Kravitz, Cate Blanchett and Poppy Delevingne, jewellery designer Melissa Harris is a name to watch

Melissa Harris might be the most famous celebrity jeweller you've never heard of. The Sydney based jeweller not only boasts 25 years in the fine jewellery making business, her handcrafted work is to highly regarded it's even been sold in American galleries like the Whitney Museum Store. It's likely that this artisanal approach to jewellery design makes her such a hot commodity among her celebrity clientele.

Once upon a time roommate to Lenny Kravitz, Melissa has created bespoke designs for A-listers like Elton John, Jodie Foster, Charlize Theron, Alanis Morrisette, Cate Blanchett, Zoë Kravitz, Poppy Delevingne, Carey Mulligan and Simon Baker. While not one to spruik her celebrity connections, Melissa chooses to let her whimsical and spirited approach to design speak for itself. "Jewellery design has been a lifetime's passion. I love seeing the look on a client's face when they discover a piece in the showcase and they just have to have it," she says.

Her creations hero wonders of the natural world, such as zodiac signs and the elements, as well as bolder pieces that feature vine leaves, dragonflies and beehives. After relocating back to her native Australia in 1996, Melissa set up a workshop and showroom in Sydney's Double Bay where you can pay a visit.
